Find the value of crystal glass
Perhaps you have a set of twelve stemware glasses that you think are genuine crystal, but you’re not quite sure. How can you tell? The easiest way to identify genuine crystal is to hold it up to the light. Real crystal will act as a prism and create a rainbow, glass will not. Additionally, real crystal will make a musical note when tapped lightly below the rim, glass will not. By definition, crystal has a 24 percent lead content, a bright reflective quality, and a thin but substantial heft compared to regular glass.
CRYSTAL VALUE & GLASS VALUATIONS
The biggest factor in valuing crystal is if it’s signed or inscribed on or near the bottom or has a label attached to the base. Crystal is valued by the quality of the crystal and the manufacturer. This is why the label or signature is critical. Like other glasses and serving wares, if your crystal is chipped or broken, it’s likely not valuable.

IDENTIFYING CRYSTAL GLASS MAKERS & PATTERNS
If possible, you’ll want to figure out the pattern of the crystal you’re trying to value. Some crystal will have the pattern name etched or stickered on the bottom. If you are unable to find this, our Savvy Specialists will use the photo you provide to identify and value your crystal.
HOW TO TELL IF CRYSTAL IS VALUABLE
Once we've identified the manufacturer and style of the crystal, our Savvy Artist Specialists complete a Quick Appraisal which includes research, stories and special features about your crystal. We can also tell you more about the crystal, including a valuation analysis that includes what similar styles have sold for.
